"Despite not having a solid style, I have found that meaning seems to be the driver of my practice. Whether that is stitching metaphorical symbols, or encapsulating a portrait in a thoughtful moment, I have always sought meaning in the pieces I create. I wish for the viewer to take their own experience into my pieces, allowing space for reflection on their own feelings of subjects such as life, climate issues, or vulnerability."Sticking to the same medium is anything but Kaitlyn's way of art. She finds inspiration in exploring all sorts of mediums. Elements of realism are necessary in her pieces, as she fully enjoys the imitation of life, given her own twist of abstraction flows through.Currently in the University of Ottawa, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Kaitlyn's goal is to explore themes such as the human experience and the importance of connection. She fully enjoys a good challenge, and is compounding this all with exploring practices she finds difficult, such as painting with no solid objective.Her art is very open to meaning, and as she grows, these meanings become more universal and open-ended. With their own life experiences, she wishes for everyone to find their own personal meaning in her pieces.

I've mainly used portraiture as a self-reflection basis, it is a way to self-express. I find a lot of enjoyment in the process of painting people.

I do watercolour tutorials of landscapes, with emphasis of enjoying the process- tutorials should be fun, challenging, and engaging- all meanwhile grasping a sense of community!
The tutorials themselves are 1 hour 30 minutes, with time for questions, relaxation, and laughter :)
